1.  Chasing Away the Business Building Blues

by Dave Cleinman

How you deal with the challenges of building a business, handling a job, and probably a family as well, are key to your success in business.  Planning well, having a schedule that you follow every day, and making time for all the important things can keep you moving forward and building with success.  What happens, though, when things slow down, or you get stuck, or something doesn't work out the way you wanted after putting in hours of time and energy?  This is the point where many people give up on building a business and where you will need to analyze and readjust.  Before throwing in the towel and declaring it all a waste, follow these simple steps to chase away the blues and keep moving forward with your business.

1.  Remember your motivation for starting the business.  It was probably significant and life-changing.  It is no less significant when you are having difficulties, so make sure you have it in plain site whether it's written in terms of goals, desires, or reasons.  Not only will this motivate you on a daily basis, it will shake you free when you get stuck.

2.  If you have a challenge seek help from others.  By now you should have a mentor that you can talk to.  If not, find one!  If you are reading this, you have one readily available!  A mentor can help you see things in a new light and may even have a solution to a particular challenge.  Going it alone is difficult and not really possible for most people.  Accept help when you find it.

3.  Research the challenges that you face and see how others have dealt with them.  A web search is underutilized for this purpose and can be very effective.  Many people have overcome the challenges that you face every day and you will find them all over web searches.  Use your exact challenge in the search box and see what comes up.  You’ll be amazed to see that there’s probably a solution right there for your taking.

4.  Make sure your family is on board with you and will be supportive.  Here I’m talking about your immediate family, not your entire extended family.  The people that you live with are a great source of comfort and support.  Don’t keep things in.  Be honest and seek support.  It is a safe bet that they want what you want and are willing to help you achieve it.

5.  One of the main reasons that people give up on a business is that they simply get overwhelmed and cannot balance their regular life with their business life.  The way to solve this challenge is to prioritize.  On your to-do list you should have a set of tasks that are prioritized in terms of importance.  IGAs – Income Generating Activities get done first, always.  As long as you are focused on generating income in your business the challenges that you face will never seem overwhelming.

6.  Realize that being your own boss may be distinctly different from anything you have ever experienced.  As an employee it is easy to get used to having supervisors and bosses tell us what to do.  As your own boss that is completely removed and may take some getting used to.  This is where your business plan becomes your boss.  It will keep you on track even when you are not willing to give yourself orders, so to speak.

7.  I say this often but it is worth repeating.  Celebrate your victories.  Even the little ones.  Celebrate when you recruit someone.  Celebrate when you make a new contact.  Celebrate when you reach a milestone in your goals.  Celebrate when you feel like it, for that matter!  You don’t have to wait until you have full success to enjoy the process of getting there!

Building a business is a difficult and challenging process and most people simply never manage to make a success at it.  If your desire to succeed is strong enough, and you are willing to follow these simple steps to keep yourself on track, you will turn the corner sooner than later, and the end result will be worth the difficulties and challenges, many times over.

MLM Online Strategies - Best Practice Number One
By Corinne Floyd

The number one best way to jumpstart your MLM business is to know exactly the kind of person you are looking for and would be interested in teaming up with you. Picture that person or avatar:

What are they doing?
What are their interests?
What are they thinking about?
And how can you help them?

This article is part 1 of 7 articles on best practices for your online network marketing strategies no matter what your network marketing business.

Number one best practice is knowing who your target market is before you start to build your online content.

I have found that figuring out my target market is easier when I am clear in my own mind about who I am looking for. Have you ever experienced this feeling when you are shopping for something? You know exactly what you want, you know where to start looking and you know the stores that are simply not on the radar for the item you desire. For example: you aren't going to go to the local hardware store to find the perfect red dress for a dinner party.

Who do you know and understand better than anyone else?

When I answered this question for myself I realized, of course, I know myself better than anyone else.
I understand the feelings of being an empty nester mom. I know the wonderful years of bringing up a family and then one day it seems everything changes when the last child leaves for college. I know I have many strengths and experiences that are valuable and worth sharing.

There are many others who feel the same way and many of the empty nester baby boomers are fearful about retirement and living on a fixed income.

I can see, feel, and know their concerns and worries. I feel them too.

I am committed to constantly learning and growing. I am looking forward to this next chapter in my life with passion and excitement.

Well, enough about me. And back to looking for your target market.

When you are starting your online network marketing you must have a clear picture of your "avatar" and write and talk about things that are important to them.

Give them a successful path to follow and encourage them along the way. There is no need for every person starting online to have to figure everything out for themselves.

Take the worry and frustration out of all the target market talk. Keep it simple by expressing your thoughts and attracting people who have many of the same thoughts and challenges that you have experienced.

Part one in Best Practices is simply knowing yourself and writing to yourself like you are your own target market. Now that you know more about your best target market, next, in part two of Best Practices for MLM network prospecting I'll discuss the nitty gritty of actually attracting prospects to you.
