Belief vs. Failure:  Belief Never Loses!

by Dave Cleinman

If you are not brand new to internet marketing you’ve probably heard about the “failure rate” of internet marketers, and you also know that it is very high.  So high, in fact, that no matter how hard someone wants to succeed with it, and that IS almost everyone who attempts it, very few people out of 100 actually truly believe that they can succeed, and even fewer put in the essential effort required to do so.  Hence the “failure rate” is about 97-99%.  The reasons for this are many, yet the bottom line is only made up of a few key ideas.  Dedication in these areas will guarantee success, given enough time and patience, and sooner or later momentum will build.  The trick is to stick with the plan until it begins to produce results.  I can hear the questions already, “What plan?”

Your personal plan should be based on what you are promoting, and how others have been successful with it.  The essential elements of your success, however, are not the little day to day things that you do.  They are having a long-term mental plan that will keep you going through difficult times, and keep you productive and engaged at ALL times.  These elements combine like a mineral tonic to keep you healthy, alert, and engaged.

Belief:  Essential from the start, this is the key to the process.  You must believe that you will succeed.  For two reasons:

1.  What you believe is true is true for you!  In other words, your belief structure creates and rules your world.  If you don’t believe, or only half–believe, you will never put in the essential effort required to make your business a success.

2.  Belief is the ultimate motivator.  Believing that you will succeed, believing that you can overcome challenges, believing that people will respond well to your message, and so on, will create that very reality through a subtle mental mechanism.  Your belief will automatically cause you to do things in such a way that you will get the results you desire and deserve.

Knowledge:  This is the easiest part of the plan, and the one that takes the least amount of time and effort.  It can be summed up in this way:  If you want to be successful in internet marketing find someone who has done it, and follow their lead.  Learn everything about what you are promoting.  Make sure it is a genuine product with a guaranteed pay plan.  Make sure that you can describe the benefits to someone else, comfortably, and be confident in the benefits.  If you will not use the product or services yourself, don’t promote them!  Find something you BELIEVE in.  Mentors are good to have here, and they are all around.  If you are working with a good company, chances are they are doing training and mentoring constantly.

Planning:  Once you know how to market you product or service, set up a daily plan.  Use Action Quotas:  Set a specific goal for what you will do on any given day, how much you will do, and stick to it.  For example, yours might look like this:  Mondays:  I will send ads out to 10 lists.  I will write two articles, I will call 10 people.  Tuesday:  I will write 10 ads, I will call 10 people, I will attend one training, and I will submit two press releases… and so on.  Check them off as you do the things on your action plan and add more to it as you become more efficient.

Effort:  Tim Sebert says it this way:  “Take imperfect action every day.”  What you do doesn’t have to be perfect, and you don’t have to wait until you know everything to take action.  You can build your list WHILE learning about your company.  You can promote an affiliate product to help build your list and generate revenue WHILE you are prospecting for your MLM.  You can use generic ad copy WHILE you are learning how to write your own.  You can follow someone else’s lead WHILE you are developing your own system.

In the end, your success is completely your responsibility.  If you truly want to succeed, you will.  You’ll find the resources and assistance you need.  You will find mentors and work with them.  You will treat your business like a business and not a hobby.  You will educate yourself, motivate yourself, dream big, aim high, plan well, and believe.

E-mail Spam, Forum Spam, and Online Conduct

by Ilya Bodner

EMAIL SPAM

E-mail spam is the most common form of internet spamming. It involves sending unsolicited commercial messages to many recipients. Unlike legitimate commercial e-mail, spam is generally sent without the explicit permission of the recipients, and frequently contains various tricks to bypass e-mail filtering. The most dedicated spammers are often those making a great deal of money, or engaged in illegal or immoral activities, such as pornography, online casinos, and internet scams.

Due to the negative image caused by marketing with SPAM, it is very important not to engage in the activities of Bulk Messaging and other SPAM-like activities, like falsifying an internet identity to promote a product or service. If you or your employees are advertising through email, be sure that the clients you are sending e-mails to are valid leads that have requested the information you are providing.

NEWSGROUP AND FORUM SPAM

Forums and Newsgroups are collaboration tools that have been around for many years. Recently, they too have been victims of Spam activity where bulk messages are posted in order to advertise a website or a company. Using good will to spread the word about your company is different from spamming. As long as you are offering people actual advice and resources, and not hiding your identity, it's the same as offering people free car washes for one day when trying to promote your new car wash. In that case, you are not spamming.

However, the line between good-will promotion and spamming is often blurred. Regardless of how you market, it is best to avoid spamming at all costs.

BASIC WEBSITE CONSIDERATIONS

Often, individuals creating websites are unsure where to start. There are many companies offering website creation services and internet marketing. Be wary of tools that help you create your own websites. Some of these tools or programs make it easy to create a website, but a business often suffers from not having a custom-created website, costing the business owner time and money eventually. But, regardless who creates the site, keep in mind that a successful website:

* Contains well-developed content that is organized in a clear, cohesive manner
* Contains correct grammar and spelling
* Contains correct syntax and code
* Offers users clear navigation
* Provides Site Maps
* Provides an About Us page with business information including the year founded, industry, size of your business and location
* Provides a Contact Us page with your company's phone number, address, and email address
* Isn't too graphic intensive (which can make it difficult and time-consuming to load)
* Employs proper use of Meta Tags (Keywords, Descriptions)
* Takes advantage of Paid Search Engine Optimization services
* Often utilizes traffic-generation services
