1.  Baby Boomers Options For Their Retirement

by Rachel J. Hall

Baby Boomers in the main are worried about their retirement. They are considering their options and are realizing that old age is not going to be what they expected. For some the retirement age could well be increased to 70 which although for many is a viable option, for others it is definitely not.

So what are the options:-

1. Work at the same job (if it still exists) until they reach the cut off date and then try to live of their meager pension. This will mean that a large percentage of people will struggle to maintain their lifestyle and for many it will reduce them to near poverty. This is a harsh fact but unfortunately true.

2. Retire from their present position and look for a part time job which unless they are able to work in a consulting area could well be a poorly paid and rather demeaning situation.

3. OR they can look to start up their own business. This is an option that is being taken on by an expanding group of baby boomers. They have begun to realize that the world of the Internet could be the answer to their problem. Offline businesses are struggling and now is not the time to venture into this area, but online is booming. An increasing number of forty to sixty-somethings are going online and joining Internet businesses and they are doing extremely well.

It is a known fact that this age group are among the ones that are succeeding online, they have the knowledge and unfortunately, fear of the future which drives them to put the effort into a new career. This leads to them realizing that although they cannot obtain instant riches by starting online it does give them the chance to build residual income and enough to live the lifestyle they desire and deserve.

So retirement options for baby boomers is not all doom and gloom, with the right attitude and forward thinking they should be able to carve out a future for themselves that will sustain them and their loved ones for years to come.

2.  Branding Yourself Beats Branding a Brand!

by Dave Cleinman

Branding:  Dictionary.com defines this (most closely for our purposes as:  "To promote as a brand name."

For us this means having our name become a brand.  For several reasons.

1.  If someone is going to do a search for you, they will never search for: online-super-guru.com , or donsblog.com , or any other clever domain name.  They will search for your name, however, because that is easy to find.  If you tie a cool site to your name people will want to know more about you, and they WILL do a search.  online-super-guru.com  or some other funky domain name may not even show up in a search of your name.  But have a domain name that IS your name http://www.davecleinman.com and you will guarantee that people find you, AND your website.

2.  The most needed commodity on the internet is knowledge, and for internet marketers that means mentors.  People trust a mentor when they know their name, but have no reason to trust a general domain name.  Have your name and your picture on your site, and you will increase your opt-in rate many times over.

3.  Over time, as you get better as an internet marketer, your name will be widely known.  When people come across it on Twitter, Facebook, in Linkedin, or a forum, they will have heard it before and will likely take interest in what you are doing.  At this point they may even type your name into the url bar as a url, and come directly to your website.  In fact, as you brand your name, you are building a subtle traffic generator that, given time, will be as powerful as any other method, without any effort by you at all.

4.  One thing that plagues many internet marketers is that they do not start out as salespeople and often are not in the same mental frame of mind as a salesperson.  A salesperson wants every person in their niche to know their name and what they do.  An overwhelming majority of internet marketers have a different mindset:  "I don't want anyone to find me!"  This is a natural reaction for many people to the idea of putting their name out onto the internet, but if you want to do business, you have to do it.  It's just a fact of life.  Take pride in what you are doing and tell the world!  At this point you want Everyone to find you!

5.  The most important reason is as simple as it is elegant:  It will reinforce your self-worth every day that you see the website my-name.com.  Since it is a direct reflection of you, you will treat it like a temple, and as it grows in beauty and stature, so will your sense of self-worth and accomplishment.  It will be the ultimate icon of you and your internet presence, and every time you tweak your site, add to it, post an article or a video to it, or get an opt-in from it you will be inherently rewarding yourself.  And, in an ironic twist of reality, as it becomes more popular, and your pride in it grows, it will keep you on track and motivated to keep going, working harder, and doing more.

If you have ever run across a blog that had a generic domain name, no author or site owner information, and no reference at all to the owner (and there are many!) you know right away that this person is inexperienced, not well-versed in marketing, and you will not opt-in to their newsletter.  If, on the other hand, you have come across a website where the information was there, the name, the picture, the video, and good articles, you are likely to trust this person enough at least to read their writing or watch their video.  If the blog domain name was their name, you probably will never forget the url, since watching the video or reading the stories/articles allowed you to learn the owner's name.

That is what you want to do.  Have every visitor learn your name, and have anyone who runs across your name somewhere else be able to find your website.  It is the ultimate and best form of a self-fulfilling cycle.

The Important C's of Business Ethics

By Patricia Delp

The present time company eventuality is driven by cut throat competition and many hurdles. With many setups fighting for the top slot, a concept like business ethics has lost its importance. But, if you would like to be successful in the long run, then sticking to these business ethics is a must. While business ethics is a broad idea, having a look at some vital Cs of the concept will help you know them better.

The initial C of business ethics which holds paramount importance is confidentiality. The growth and success of business all relies on trust. If you are an employee of a company it's your responsibility to maintain the trust the company bestows in you. Never make the error of spilling out the special data of the company. Always keep the confidential and the secret info to your own. The moment you spill the beans to someone unknown you are bound to invite troubles to your own company. This may in turn bring down the success rate of the company to a great degree.

Collaboration is the 2nd only to confidentiality in order by importance. Collaboration is something that you will do at some point of your business. To reach the goals of your company, you need to make a co-operative effort with the others at work to gain success. Try and work along with other team members to accomplish general aims and practice your communication abilities. Effective communication alone will help you initiate the requisite collusion.

Another very significant factor, often unconsidered in business is 'compassion'. The majority stick to a selected job or work area because of the remuneration they get. In this process however, compassion is a word rarely used and even less implemented. The best outcomes in work can't be reached without compassion towards your work. You must love what you do to be truly effective against competitors and be most productive. While it's good to be objective about your work, a little compassion will help your performance.

Last although not the least; the business ethic that can help you in making your business grow is competence. This idea is less of an ethic and more of a business need. There are no two ways about the fact that expansion of business is significantly set by the ethics. If you lack on the competency level it is difficult to make a mark. Many business experts are of the opinion that one must explore only that business opportunity which is well fitted to the competency level. For example if you are not a pro at marketing you need not go in for sales oriented business like that of restaurant. You should try your hand at some creative fields like that of the site planning and copywriting. The base line is to be linked with something which suits your interest and competency to the maximum extent practicable.

So if you want to make your business go places and grow surprisingly always make it a point to sign up for these business ethics. Imbibe the aforementioned business ethics extraordinarily and be sure that your business will grow like never before.
