1.  Turning Point:  Where Fear Departs

Sometimes, when you are forced to make changes in your life, fear over-rides ability, and progress is stymied by worry, and aggravation, and resentment at those who "screwed you."  Losing a job is one of the most painful and heartbreaking events in a person's life, and at a time where finances are already tight, it can literally be devastating.  Yet it happens all the time, to good people, to undeserving souls, to hard working individuals who put others first and do their job as well as anyone can.

Then, BAM, one day their job is gone...

In my case, and I believe that total honesty will work best here, I was teaching in Florida when my school district was hit by a loss of students, and severe budget cuts.  I lost my position with my district, and spent two months fighting for single positions against 80-90 other applicants.  I was out, and have yet to be rehired.  It is not looking great at this point.  However I believe that it was for the best, and I will explain why.

As most people know, teachers are very poorly paid.  I don't mind the low pay, really, but with a huge student loan debt, and a 9th grader who is close to going to college, I had to do something different.  When my original sponsor from Retire Quickly (which became FFSI) contacted me in late August regarding GVO, I saw an opportunity, and I took it.  GVO is home to the greatest set of marketing tools and web hosting on the planet, bar none, and I absolutely love being a part of this amazing company.  I'll explain more about why in a moment, but here's a visual example of what GVO is all about, for me, and why I know I did the right thing when I joined them.

The video here will explain everything:   Fear Meets Fire-Eating! Fear Loses!!!

My Turning Point occurred when I met Marshall Sylver through a GVO presentation an he gave us free access to his training DVD, Take Action Now.  Then he gave us an opportunity to purchase lifetime tickets to Turning Point, plus over a thousand dollars worth of training materials for a fraction of the cost.  I could not resist, and more to the point, I am glad I did not!  I flew out to Las Vegas for the weekend, and met dozens of GVO lifers at a mixer in the Presidential Suite of the Red Rock Hotel, and the following two days attended the Turning Point.  It was simply amazing!

Learning to reprogram your mind to work for you instead of against you, to let positive and productive thoughts run your brain instead of fear and worry, to learn the hows and whys of communication and why building wealth is a boon to others, instead of a burden.  Things that make so much sense when seen in simple terms became immediately obvious, when decades of bad programming had been clouding our judgement and emotions.

I am happy and productive, even though I have been out of work for 9 months!  I am on track to make a million dollars within a year, when before I could barely envision it!  I know that GVO was the right decision, and I am certain that GVO will be an unstoppable force in the web-hosting and business tools arena, and that if you are not yet with GVO, you soon will be!

Here's why I believe:  I lost my job.  My former RQ sponsor introduced me to GVO.  I found Marshall Sylver through GVO.  I took his offer to attend Turning Point and flew to Vegas where I met my GVO president Joel Therien, and the awesome Mike Potvin, and masses of great GVO people!  I attended the Turning Point, was mentally reborn, and since, in only a week's time, have had major successes in every aspect of my life.  And the best part?  It's just beginning!

3 Keys to Successfully Marketing Yourself

By Nicholas Yong

The difference between those who successfully market themselves today means the difference between whether you're in business tomorrow.

Successful marketing campaigns are exactly like sales leads. You're planning to have a number of appointments - whether that's with investors, hiring agents or decision makers.

In order to fulfill your quest, you'll have to choose whether you want to succeed.

Here are 3 Keys To Successfully Marketing Yourself:

Key#3 Direction
Knowing where you want to go, who you want to contact, which industries you wish to target - all help in narrowing your market direction so that you can channel and focus your energy.

When you disperse your energy, you minimize your chances of success. The best way to think about your marketing efforts is to perform one action at a time. You are progressively building upon each action and reinforcing your effort.

This gives you the undeniable ability to be ready for each phase of your marketing plan while minimizing surprises.

Key#2 Persistence
In today's fast paced society, immediate results are expected. However, that's not the case for most marketing efforts. It takes time to build excitement about yourself, about your products and your services. That doesn't mean that you can't achieve dependable and timely results.

What persistence means is that you will pursue all the channels available to you to market yourself and continually persist until you start seeing results. Persistence is vital because this attitude will enable you to handle rejection.

Key#1 Handling Rejection
In order to market yourself, you need to get in front of the media, investors and other decision makers. You need to show that what you have to offer is appealing and can solve whatever problems your target audience faces.

However, the message may not necessarily fit the profile that some decision makers require. That's fine. The message may not fit today; however, tomorrow is another business day.

What's not OK is when you take that rejection to your proposal or idea personally. Maybe a review of whether the proposal was truly appealing to that decision maker's immediate requirements.

Another step to understand you process is to ask for feedback. That may come in the form of a self addressed postcard attached to your 'Thank You' letter. Ask how you can improve your service. Most people would be impressed that you actually asked them and will respond to your inquiries positively.

Just remember to keep questions brief and to the point. A survey may work best where you ask 3-5 yes or no types of questions. That way you're not monopolizing their time.

Successfully marketing yourself takes direction, persistence and an ability to handle rejection. Without these necessary behaviors, success will be elusive.

These 3 Keys To Successfully Marketing Yourself will assist you in your quest to have a better and more successful marketing campaign.

Some Secrets to Planning Your Retirement

by Janet Houghton

Retirement is something which is going to affect everyone, so whether you're 24 or 64 this article could interest you. I'm going to cover the why's and wherefores of retirement planning, so hope you will get some knowledge and perhaps some enjoyment out of it.

Planning for Retirement

Most people have some sort of idea in their mind as to what they are going to actually do once they stop work, whether it's spending the kids inheritance by buying the most up-to-date RV and traveling around the country, or just relax and play more golf. Some say they never want to retire, that once they stop work they'll fall in a heap, or die of boredom. Others hope for early retirement. But one thing's for certain, we are all going to get to "retirement age" sooner or later.

Now, as most people probably realize, it is important to actually plan for this, and not only financially. It is a good idea to sit down, without your partner (if you have one) initially, and put some thought into making a list of things you personally would like to be able to do. Put it in writing, as these things will eventually become your goals. Once you've got your own thoughts on the matter sorted out, only then should you get together with your partner and pool your ideas. These form your draft list which you can go through every so often and modify or change or add to. You should put down the pros and cons plus how much each thing will cost, and when you would like to do it or have it done by.

The Financial Side of Things

In this section I'm not going into the calculation of how much in dollars you will need if you're 24 or 44 and you want to retire at 64 - there are plenty of financial planners around who are far more qualified than I am to advise you.

However, nowadays everyone is far more aware of the amount of money they will need to have saved or in superannuation for them to be able to live the sort of lifestyle most people dream about. What if you haven't got that sort of money though?

Presuming you have a reasonable 'dream list' which probably includes a few overseas holidays enjoying your new found freedom under a palm tree, you will need more than just the age pension to get by on. So you will be looking for a way to supplement your income in some way, without having to actually go back to work for a boss.

Luckily for us, there is the internet, which means you could find some sort of online business you could work from home. If you do a search on Google, you will find any number of choices, so take your time and have a good look round. Do plenty of research because there are lots of "best systems" and "get rich quick" schemes out there. Look for one which will train and support you, plus gives you the opportunity of a residual income down the line.

Find the right internet business, and it will not only keep your mind active and lucrative income, but could well be the start of an early retirement.

Janet works from home in Tropical North Queensland as a business coach and entrepreneur in network marketing.
