by Dave Cleinman The process of moving from one area to another, such as from a job to
building a business, is generally fraught with challenges and personal
difficulties. This is true for
even the most seasoned and knowledgeable individual.
A job provides an illusion of security that a business does not.
Yet in both cases there are illusions.
A job has little, if any security, unless there is a specific
contract (which in the USA is exceedingly rare).
A business, however, properly built and run can provide a level of
security unmatched by almost any job.
Despite the millions of people who come onto the internet to build
a business each day only one out of a hundred will achieve true success.
A handful more will have some success.
Better than 95 percent will make no money at all and will likely
spend much more than they ever recoup. Demons are those personal issues that keep us from progressing. The little voices in our heads, the people who have strong opinions, the difficulty of the daily grind, the inner beliefs that we cannot succeed, and so on. These demons must be conquered before we experience success. Or do they? Do we need to rid ourselves of demons before we can progress? Most people think so. So much so that they never progress because the demons have their way with them and they are unable to pass those personal roadblocks. Here’s a different way to deal with the demons that will not eliminate them, but will render them powerless. This is really all we can do. Circumstances may change, but people usually do not. The issues preventing success will not go away. The tons of little things that require our attention will always be there. The voices in our heads? These we can handle directly. Six steps, very brief will empower us to progress, demons or not. 1. Have a plan of what you want to achieve. Be specific and develop a plan for achieving it. Break it down into steps. Break the steps into action plans. One devil down: knowing what to do. 2. Avoid negative people. If they happen to be family be straight with them. If they insist on giving advice, ignore it. If they constantly naysay, avoid them. These are difficult demons because when we avoid them we tend to feel guilty. So avoid discussions of business with family or friends who are not supportive. 3. Structure your day so that you get enough sleep, exercise, proper nutrition, and have daily down time. Most people are bad at most, if not all of these. 4. Research products/opportunities very well. Promote only what you use yourself and believe in. Self-doubt is a huge demon and can be overcome by making sure you believe in what you are selling. 5. Follow good mentors. Not the people who spam and scam, but business people who know how to market and build a brand. Marketing properly is much more fun and rewarding than using ineffective and illegal methods. Demon number five down, knowing how to sell. 6. Get control of your thoughts. Keep a log of what goes through your mind. Our thoughts actually move faster than our conscious mind can keep up, leaving emotional traces and feelings that largely drive our behavior. As we align our thoughts with what we need to do to achieve success, we conquer the biggest demon of them all, and success will come. Finding out what your personal demons are can be accomplished by tracing your thoughts. What upsets you? What are you afraid of? What things that people say really bother you? Such clues will help you identify your demons. You can even give them names, if you like. Once found, their cover is blown and you can deal with them. To some degree, success in business requires demons. They motivate us, give us focus, provide us with counterpoint that keeps us on our toes. They will not go away, but they can be managed. And, in some ways our demons are the weights of life. As we exercise dealing with them we get stronger. ◄ Visit Dave's blog: Steps to Success Comparing The Top Blogging Platforms Nowadays there are hundreds of different ways to create a blog. The
